Syria Condemns US Airstrikes, Accuses US of Supporting Terrorism

Syria has vehemently condemned the recent airstrikes conducted by the United States, accusing the US of deliberately targeting Syrian territory to undermine Damascus' efforts against terrorist groups, particularly Daesh (ISIS).

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Syrian military denounced the US airstrikes in the eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr and the city of al-Bukamal near the Iraqi border, labeling them as unjustified aggression aimed at weakening Syria's anti-terrorism capabilities.

The Syrian army emphasized that the areas targeted by the US strikes were precisely where Syrian forces were combating the remnants of Daesh, alleging collusion between the US and the terrorist group.

Additionally, Syria's Foreign and Expatriates Ministry rejected US justifications for the attacks, denouncing them as lies and accusing the US of attempting to revive Daesh's terrorist activities in Syria. The ministry criticized the United Nations for its silence on the matter and underscored the US's role in destabilizing the region and threatening global peace and security.

The Syrian Defense Ministry echoed these sentiments, condemning the US airstrikes as an attempt to resurrect Daesh in both Syria and Iraq. It criticized the international community's inaction and called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in halting such violations.
